Clarissa em debate: o racismo científico na obra de Érico Veríssimo

Abstract

O presente artigo visa discutir as continuidades do racismo científico do século XIX na obra literária intitulada Clarissa de autoria de Erico Veríssimo. Os objetivos principais do artigo são: discutir as diferenças no que tange aos teóricos raciais quanto a miscigenação, debatendo como as continuidades do racismo científico incidem sobre os personagens negros da obra. A partir desses objetivos o artigo também tem como intuito trabalhar o papel do negro na Primeira República em sala de aula, através da análise de conceitos como raça e racismo. sendo assim um trabalho interdisciplinar entre as disciplinas de Língua Portuguesa / Literatura, História e Sociologia.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the ongoing progress of scientific racism in the Nineteenth Century in the literary work entitled Clarissa by Erico Verissimo. The main objectives of the article are: to discuss the differences concerning the theorists racial regarding miscegenation and to discuss how the continuities of scientific racism focus on the black characters in this literary work. Based on these objectives, the article also aims to present and develop the role of black people in the first republic in classroom, through the analysis of concepts such as race and racism, therefore being an interdisciplinary job between the disciplines of Literature, History and Sociology.
